Upsell & AOV glossary
The words behind bigger orders, explained in one or two sentences each.
- Average order value (AOV)
- Total revenue divided by the number of orders in a period. Raising AOV grows revenue without paying for more traffic.

- Free gift with purchase (GWP)
- A product added free to the cart when the order meets a condition, such as a minimum cart value or a specific product in the cart.

- BOGO (Buy One Get One)
- An offer where buying one item unlocks a second item free or at a discount. A common variant is Buy X Get Y, where the free item differs from the purchased one.

- Milestone reward
- Tiered rewards unlocked as the cart grows, for example free shipping at $100 and a gift at $200, usually shown with a progress bar.

- Volume discount (quantity break)
- Tiered pricing by quantity: the more units a shopper buys, the lower the price per unit.

- Mix and match bundle
- A bundle where shoppers choose items from product sets you define, and the bundle discount applies when the set is complete.

- Fixed bundle
- A ready-made set of products sold together at one price, usually added to the cart in one click from the product page.

- Cross-sell
- Recommending related products, such as a phone case for a phone, on the product page or in the cart.

- Post-purchase upsell
- An offer shown right after payment that the customer can add to the order in one click, without entering payment details again.

- Thank you page
- The order confirmation page. Every customer sees it right after paying, which makes it a natural place for upsells, coupons and surveys.
